THE BEST VOCAL EXERCISE FOR SINGERS!

The most effective and result driven exercise a singer can do daily is the Lip Trill exercise. What is the Lip Trill exercise? What does the Lip Trill exercise do? This exercise is one of the most important exercises a singer can learn to really make an impact on the voice.

The Lip Trill exercise is a fun and extremely effective vocal exercise. It is also called the Motor Boat, Prrr, Bubble, Lip Bubbles or Blowing Raspberries. You are basically making a sound imitating a motor boat or airplane. The lips are almost closed (semi-occluded) and the lips flap together as you release a steady stream of air with air pressure and make noise. It is similar to the sound a horse will make when they flutter their nostrils and “snort-blow.” You can look up the exercise on Youtube or other social media outlets.

What does the Lip Trill do for you voice? The Lip Trill exercise helps with so many areas of voice. This exercise is the best way to warm up without any strain. Even if you have a sore throat or throat issues you can do the Lip Trill can be done without causing any throat issues. It’s also the best way to extend your range higher and lower. The exercise also relaxes any muscle tension, balances air pressure, teaches a singer breath support, eliminates any vocal strain in any register and trains the throat muscles to pull out instead of constricting when shifting from one register to the next. Lots of amazing results happen from this exercise without a singer even thinking about it.

So, next time you are having an issue with a song, bubble through it, focus on what it feels like and take that same feeling into your singing! Want to sing higher or lower, bubble it and soon you will be singing those notes!

JOKE FOR THE DAY:

“I’m sick to death of people saying we’ve made 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we’ve made 12 albums that sound exactly the same!”
