HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR VOICE INSTANTLY!
Diction is the art of speaking (rap) or singing so that each word is clearly heard. It is the way in which you enunciate our words as you sing them.
Good diction includes the accent, inflection, intonation and the sound; how you sing your vowels sounds and close out your words. Closing out words is very important. For instance, “important” people tend to leave off the “t” at the end. Another word “listen,” make sure you enunciate the last letter “n” sing clearly and distinctly. Rap singers can be masters at diction, saying the words clearly and fast takes work.
Each of these genres has their own unique way of pronunciation. Pop singers really experiment with this and bend the rules. You can hear Katy Perry sing “me” as “may”; Sia really bends the rules, just listen to “Chandelier.” When you hear Rhianna sing “Love On The Brain,”, listen to how she enunciates her vowel sounds and closes out her words. She comes from Barbados and has a Caribbean accent. This influences how she pronounces words and vowel sounds.
