HOW TO STRENGTHEN YOUR CHEST VOICE
The chest register refers to the natural manner of action of the vocal folds. Your speaking voice is usually done in this register. When singing in the chest voice, you will feel more vibration in your lower neck and sternum area. Strengthening your chest voice can be done in many ways. Here are four types of exercises that will strengthen the lower register.
It can be more challenging for a woman to sing in her chest voice. Strengthening your chest voice can be done through exercises. The bubble also called lip trills, and the r roll also called tongue trills will strengthen your chest register. When you do these exercises, you will feel the vibration in the neck and sternum.
Another exercise to strengthen the chest voice is using the sound ha, ha. When you use that sound in your lower register, you will feel your abdominal muscles and the muscles surrounding your rib cage tighten giving you a fuller, thicker sound. Take that same feeling into your singing in the chest register.
The last exercise is using the sound Ah in the chest register. When using that sound, do it in a staccato technique. Staccato means singing each note sharply, detached and crisp notes. You can also use the Ah sound in a heavy sigh, like Ahhh, feel the drop into the chest voice when you sigh.
