MANAGING YOUR TIME
Have you ever heard someone say “there is not enough time in the day” or “I don’t have enough time to practice my vocals or piano.” You need to learn how to manage your time. Here are some tips to help manage your time.
Try planning out your day the night before. Set deadlines for tasks and stick to a daily schedule. Set a specific time every day to practice singing or play. By implementing effective time management, you will get so much more accomplished. Everyone has the same 24 hours in their day, it’s up to you to make the most out of it.
You can always find 15 minutes in your day to practice. It’s all about scheduling that time. When is the best time? There is a Japanese word called “Kaizen” and it means continuous improvement. It is the daily effort in making marginal gains which creates continual improvement in yourself and your goals day after day.
There is a one percent rule, try to improve in that one thing every day (like extending your range or learning how to sing with a mixed voice), you will become 37 or 38% better at it in one year. Learning one song each and continue to improve your voice. The same with piano, gradually make your songs a little harder each time and you will see your efforts compound. You will see amazing improvements in one year!
Stay focused on your goal to be a singer, pianist, musician, putting a band together or being a songwriter. Manage your daily time well and put your phone down. Whether it’s 15, 30, 60, or 120 minutes, set your schedule for the next day with your practice time included in your daily routine.
