The singing voice is believed to be the first original musical instrument. No one really knows who invented music. There is no historical evidence that exists to tell us when the first song was created. No one knows who made the first rhythmic patterns that resemble the music we know today. The only thing researchers know is that music was created thousands of years ago.

IS THE SINGING VOICE THE ORIGINAL INSTRUMENT?

The singing voice is believed to be the first original musical instrument. No one really knows who invented music. There is no historical evidence that exists to tell us when the first song was created. No one knows who made the first rhythmic patterns that resemble the music we know today. The only thing researchers know is that music was created thousands of years ago.

The vocal production of music is so basic and predates the development of the spoken language. Scientists presume the voice to be the original musical instrument because every human culture, no matter how secluded and remote, uses their voices to sing.

Paleontologist have established that over 530,000 years ago, our ancestors had a horseshoe-shaped hyoid bone in the throat. This is very similar to our modern human hyoid bone. This means that our ancestors would have had the physical ability to sing.

The first known and oldest surviving record of a human voice singing was recorded by Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville. It was a recording of an anonymous vocalist singing “Au Claire De La Lune.” Dhrupad is the oldest known style of music. It is a genre in Hindustani classical music.

The main reason music came about was to bring people together. It’s a universal language with bonding emotion. It’s a way to express deep feeling and leads to unity in so many ways. It’s a magical thing!

JOKE FOR THE DAY:

“I met her in the museum of paleontology. And I make no bones about it.”
