Billie Eilish has a unique voice and sings most of her songs with soft and breathy (aspirate) voice. The aspirate onset is breathy vocal technique. Billie Eilish is a soprano, she’s above the standard female pop alto because she really focuses on creating a dream-like quality in her singing. Her range is D3-A5 giving her 2 1/2 octave range. When you listen to her music, she creates an atmospheric experience. When she sings live, her performances are practically identical to the recorded song. She moves through with inflections and decorative vocals with incredible control, yet is not so overly polished that she loses that emotional quality.
All of her songs are written with Finneas O’Connell, her brother, whom she frequently credits. He produces all of her songs and he keeps her vocals pure with minimalistic production with airy harmonies and a pulsing beat. The songs they create are rhythmic and fluid because of her dance background. The songs are packed with emotion. Billie focuses on the movement and visual response to the songs. The music videos are release for most of her songs which include her own dancing.
If you watch videos of her singing when she was younger, the vocal style and sound is different than how she sings now. She used more belting and power.
