A cadence for piano is different than a cadence for singing. For piano, a cadence is referring to a sequence of notes or chords, giving a sense of resolution or closure. When referring to voice, a cadence has to do with the modulation of a voice. This is the fine-tuning of a singer’s pitch or tone.
For a singer, a cadence is also the way your words flow when singing. It involves the rhythm in which you sing and the words you choose to emphasize. A vocal cadence is done with inflections, which is the rise and fall movement of your pitch throughout a musical sentence. Music theory cadence in musical terms is a progression of at least two or more chords that finish a phrase or a section of a song. The closing or ending for a musical phrase which are made up of a combination of chords. There are many types of cadences, but the three most common types of cadences are authentic, half and plagal. It is a melodic (melody, one note at a time) or harmonic configuration (multiple notes played at the same time) which creates a finality to a music phrase.
When playing the piano use at least two chords to bring an ending or conclusion to a phrase, a section of a song or it could be a piece of music.
