There are many rhythmic musical instrument and they are used to provide a strong beat to a piece of music. The bass guitarist (John Entwistle) in “The Who” played bass guitar for the band. The rhythmic patterns he created gave the band a unique and different sound.

There are five types of Rhythmic Patterns in music and they are:

  1. Random Rhythm is created when groups of similar patterns repeat with no regular pattern (like Jazz).
  2. Regular Rhythm is a regular pattern played throughout the song.
  3. Alternating Rhythm is two or more rhythm patterns alternating in the song.
  4. Flowing Rhythm is the flow of a natural pattern of beats being played throughout the song.
  5. Progressive Rhythm is a rhythm pattern that gradually increases (builds) or decreases and that gives you a sense of direction in the rhythm pattern.

In conclusion, rhythmic Instruments include: drums, claves (sticks & blocks), shakers (castanets & rattles), percussion sets (bells, triangles, mallet, ect.), tambourines & cymbals, and electronic percussions. These instruments provide a variety of different sounds to form unique rhythmic patterns.
